Newsletter 11/30/25

November: where’d this big month go?

  • Writing wise, I set out to post ~25,000 words across Our Secrets and Our Silence and What We’ve Almost Remembered. I posted over 21,000 words for those projects, which I’m pretty happy with, especially given there’s more to come in December! I also logged over 29 hours of focused drafting time.
  • For December, my stretch goal is to publish both. We’ll see how it goes! Keep up with my progress on TrackBear!
  • I hosted one Las Vegas TNG (The Next Generation) event this month: one of our usual munches. Thanks to everyone who attended!
  • In December, I’ll be hosting one of our usual munches on the 15th, if you happen to be 18-35 and local to the Vegas area.
  • For the Neon Cactus Wordsmiths, I hosted two Discord write-ins this month, as well as our monthly social at my place. Thanks to everyone who joined us for Noveling November!

  • In November, I also had a great time presenting for “FLAIR Forward”! Thank you so much to the FLAIR team and to everyone who attended!

  • I got to spend so much time with family and friends this month. Most notably, my beautiful wife and I celebrated our eighth anniversary and our fifth wedding anniversary!
  • November gratitude: so much wonderful weather, having the best mom ever, family Cards Against Humanity games and popcorn fights, my wife figuring out how to hold my wrists so I can happy flap over the new Wicked movie without subluxing anything this time!

  • I also took two amazing trips to San Francisco and to Portland. I got to see friends and family, take my first big train trip, spend a day boating and floating on Lake Sonoma, spend five hours in Powell’s Books, see the Japanese American Museum of Oregon, and so much more.
  • More August gratitude: laughing with friends and making new ones, great travel experiences, my oral surgery going well.

July: where’d it go?

  • Writing wise, I set out to write for forty-five minutes per day. I largely stuck to this goal, posting updates for Our Secrets and Our Silence (It All Became So Violent). I posted over 11,000 words, with lots more in the works!
  • Next month, except for travel days, I’m kicking my writing goal up to one hour per day. Keep up with my progress on TrackBear!
  • I hosted one Las Vegas TNG (The Next Generation) event this month: one of our usual munches.
  • My wife also organized another unofficial all you can play TNG laser tag night! Thanks to her and to everyone who attended our events this month.
  • In July, I’ll be hosting one of our usual munches on the 18th, if you happen to be 18-35 and local to the Vegas area.

  • Writing wise, I set out to write for forty-five minutes per day. I largely stuck to this goal, although I took the equivalent of three days off to switch gears back after a deep dive into finishing What We’ve Almost Forgotten.
  • In total, I posted over 17,000 words across my projects, also including updates for Our Secrets and Our Silence (It All Became So Violent).

Newsletter 3/31/25

March: what a big month!

  • Writing wise, I set out to stick with my new goal of writing for one hour per day. Due to a lot of other exciting things going on, I changed my goal midmonth back to my usual forty-five minutes per day (minus a few travel days). I basically stuck to that, and posted over 14,000 words across my projects, including Act I of a three-part novelette, “What We’ve Almost Forgotten” and updates for Our Secrets and Our Silence (It All Became So Violent). Please let me know what you think in the comments sections of those works (and thank you to everyone who already has)!
  • Next month, I’ll stick with forty-five minutes per day. Keep up with my progress on TrackBear!
  • This month, I returned to the Leather Leadership Conference for my third year as a presenter, this time to Level Up in Los Angeles, CA. I taught “Creating Sensory Friendly Events” and “The Literal Servant Leader”, read my story “The Night That Clara Just Wanted to Sleep” at the Community Showcase while two incredible improv volunteers brought the house down, and was beyond honored to become the newest member of the Board of Directors of the LLC! Thank you to everyone who made this weekend so awesome. Here’s my photo diary from the conference.
  • This month, I was also incredibly honored to win a House Exeter 2024 Community Education/Top 5 Class Award for “Productivity for Service”. Thank you so much to all of the wonderful people involved!

Newsletter 2/28/25

February: what a great month!

  • Writing wise, I set out to take the first week of February off from my usual forty-five minutes per day goal to put the finishing touches on, type up, edit, format, and post more works I drafted in January, then up my goal to writing for one hour per day for the rest of February (so it was like I wrote forty-five minutes per day for the whole month). I stuck to this and also worked out a new system to keep that backlog from happening!
  • I posted about 18,000 words across my projects, including “It’s Just a Drill” on The Schizophrenia Diaries, Chapters 6 and 7 of Our Secrets and Our Silence (It All Became So Violent), Chapter 20 of To Be a Deviser, and a new standalone short story, “All We’ve Ever Been Is Us“.
  • Next month, I’m sticking with my new one hour of writing per day goal. Keep up with my progress on TrackBear!
  • I added a new “elective” to my on-demand class content this month, The Zodiac Tarot Spread.
  • Next month, I’ll be back for my third year presenting at the Leather Leadership Conference. This year’s theme is Level Up, and it’s happening March 14th-16th, 2025, in Los Angeles, CA. Join me for “Creating Sensory Friendly Events” and “The Literal Servant Leader”!
